LGU Irosin Sorsogon to plant 1M fruit bearing trees

SORSOGON CITY (PIA) -- The municipal government of Irosin in Sorsogon province is now in the preparation phase for its upcoming big project as part of its tourism and livelihood program for its constituents amidst impact on tourism by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per relayed information by the LGU Irosin Information Office to PIA Sorsogon, Mayor Alfedo Cielo is planning to implement a laudable project that will help the preservation of environment, a site for tourists destination and a source of livelihood - all in one project, and they are now preparing the designated portion of their Municipal Nursery located in Barangay Mapaso to be the site for its mass tree planting project.

In the coming months, the local government unit (LGU) of Irosin will be planting One (1) million seedlings of fruit bearing trees that will surely benefit their people. By the time it materializes and the trees are due to bear fruits, all of its yields will be given to the community per household.

To date, the Irosin Integrated Municipal Nursery is considered one of the most visited places in the municipality because of its unique features of topography and panoramic view. It has fertile soil to support all the plants growing in the area including common trees and fruit bearing trees.

As part of the tourism program of the municipality, LGU irosin is continuously providing assistance to the needs of its Eco-Zoo Park including the necessary amenities for the visitors especially when the pandemic would be over in the future.

Apart from tourism related development projects, the local government is also looking for the improvement of its irrigation system for the benefit of those who are dependent to agriculture. (PIA5/ Sorsogon)
