ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Oct. 29 (PIA) - The Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO), in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), will launch, October 29, the online performances and virtual gallery exhibit in view of the Dungog 2020 celebration.

The celebration, now on its 6th year, is a gathering of the youth from the different ethnolinguistic communities in the whole country.

"Dungog" is a Hiligaynon term for pride.

It is also in time with the National Indigenous Peoples (IPs) Month with the theme "IP Youth and the Challenges for Relevance, Rootedness and Resilience amid the Pandemic and Beyond."

The event will feature webinar series, performances, virtual exhibits and focal group discussions on cultural preservation, and sharing of best IP practices of various cultural communities.

Dungog 2020 underscores the significant role of the IP Youth as culture bearers and leaders at the forefront of cultural development and heritage preservation amid modernization, globalization and the threats of the pandemic.

Further, it aims to encourage the wider and more active participation of the Filipino Youth in the cultural development process.

The province also hosted a similar celebration with the participants in attendance in 2009 and 2018. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
